7th Annual Cabin Fever Film Festival Entries Being Accepted Dec 1 – Jan 5

Aspiring and seasoned filmmakers of Loudoun County, take note! The charming town of Purcellville is calling for your creative entries for the much-anticipated seventh annual Cabin Fever Film Festival. Our community hub for the arts, the Franklin Park Performing and Visual Arts Center, in partnership with the Purcellville Arts Council, is rolling out the red carpet for this local cinematic celebration slated for January 26 and 27, 2024.

In a fresh twist this year, the festival is throwing a spotlight on the younger generation with a special youth film screening set for Friday, January 26, at the family-friendly hour of 4:30 p.m. The primary screenings will ignite the evening at 7:00 p.m., with the event continuing into Saturday, inviting attendees to shake off the winter chill and immerse themselves in the vibrant film scene right here in Purcellville.

Filmmakers, your challenge is to encapsulate the essence of “Connections,” the evocative theme for this year’s festival. Those who best capture this motif, along with the categories of Festival Favorite and Most Likely to Break Cabin Fever, will be honored with a $500 prize and a trophy that embodies local craftsmanship.

If you’re ready to showcase your vision on the silver screen, remember the ground rules: your film must run for at least one minute but not exceed an hour. Bring your stories to life through any medium, from traditional live-action to experimental animation, as long as it’s family-friendly content. Submit your digital masterpieces (in mp4 format) on a flash drive or DVD, along with a modest entry fee of $10 for the first submission and $5 for each additional one.

Mark your calendars! The submission window opens on December 1, 2023, and you’ll have until January 5, 2024, to drop off your entries at the artsy oasis of Franklin Park Arts Center. The full festival itinerary will be unveiled online on January 16, 2024.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to engage with the local arts scene, connect with fellow filmmakers, and possibly even gain some accolades along the way. For any burning questions or further information, reach out to the Arts Center’s very own Elizabeth Bracey at Elizabeth.Bracey@loudoun.gov or call 540-338-7973. Let’s make this seventh Cabin Fever Film Festival the most memorable one yet!
