Leesburg Authorities Investigating Vehicle Collision on Battlefield Parkway

Leesburg, VA (December 10, 2023) – The Leesburg Police Department’s Traffic Management Unit (TMU) is currently investigating an incident involving a vehicle crash that occurred last evening, resulting in injuries to two individuals.

The incident was reported to the Leesburg Police on December 9, 2023, just before 5:30 PM. It took place near the Marketplace at Potomac Station shopping center, where an SUV, traveling south on Battlefield Parkway NE, collided with a light pole between Potomac Station Drive NE and East Market Street (Route 7). Following the collision, the vehicle reportedly caught fire.

The SUV’s driver, a man in his 40s, and the passenger, a woman also in her 40s, were both injured. The driver was transported by ground to a local hospital, while the passenger was airlifted to a regional hospital for treatment. As of last night, both individuals were reported to be in serious but stable condition.

Due to the investigation, the section of southbound Battlefield Parkway NE where the incident occurred was closed temporarily. The Leesburg Police Department extends its gratitude to the Virginia State Police, the Virginia Department of Transportation, and the individuals who offered help before emergency services arrived.
