Local Chase Spans Two Counties, Ends with Suspect Apprehension

Ashburn, VA (October 30, 2023) – A dramatic car chase that commenced in Ashburn and concluded near Tysons Corner has resulted in one individual being taken into custody.

Earlier this afternoon, around 1:52 p.m., a concerned resident dialed into the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) to report a potential abduction taking place. As responding deputies neared the location, they spotted the suspect making an escape in a black Hummer, heading north on the Loudoun County Parkway. Without hesitation, the deputies activated their sirens and gave chase.

Despite the immediate response from the LCSO, the driver seemed unfazed and sped into neighboring Fairfax County. Backup arrived swiftly, with officers from the Fairfax County Police Department and the Virginia State Police joining the fray to support the pursuit.

The chase took a major turn when the suspect drove onto the I-495 north, zooming past Tysons Boulevard. The ordeal concluded at approximately 2:45 p.m., when the suspect halted at Chain Bridge Road and Flint Hill Road. Desperate, the individual tried to commandeer another vehicle but was promptly apprehended.

Miraculously, despite several vehicles being hit during the frenzied chase, no civilians or officers sustained any injuries. As investigations continue, the LCSO will divulge more details in due course, including the individual’s identity and the charges pressed against them.

The LCSO expressed gratitude to the Fairfax County officers and the Virginia State troopers for their invaluable assistance. The department remains devoted to safeguarding the community and ensuring such incidents are handled promptly and safely.
