Months-Long Investigation Leads to Suspect in Sterling Stabbing

Sterling, VA – After months of diligent investigation, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) has successfully apprehended a suspect in a stabbing case dating back to May of this year. The incident, which left a man with serious injuries, took place in the early hours of May 17 in the parking lot of Tipicos Los Amigos restaurant, located at 46950 Community Plaza in Sterling.

Deputies responded to the scene at around 2:10 a.m. following a report of a fight. Upon arrival, they found a male victim with a stab wound to the abdomen. The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The subsequent investigation by LCSO detectives was both extensive and meticulous, ultimately leading to the identification of 24-year-old Jose Luis Cordon Caheque, a former resident of Ashburn. On December 20, Caheque was located and arrested without incident at a residence in Salisbury, Maryland. He is currently held at the Wicomico County Corrections Center on a charge of Aggravated Malicious Wounding, with plans for extradition to Loudoun County in the coming weeks.

The LCSO has expressed gratitude to the U.S. Marshals Service, Maryland State Police, and the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office for their crucial assistance in this case. The arrest marks a significant step in bringing closure to a violent incident that shocked the Sterling community earlier this year.
